Duck Lake

Just South of Fox Lake, Illinois

Duck Lake is a 110-acre natural lake by the Village of Fox Lake in Lake County, Illinois. This lake is known for its shallow waters, with a maximum depth of only nine feet and an average depth of 4.5 feet.

The Duck Lake Waterway Association is an umbrella organization consisting of five homeowner associations that surround Duck Lake: Knollwood Park Subdivision, Duck Lake Woods Subdivision, Devlin Subdivision, Longwood Subdivision, and Chris Larkin Subdivision. There is no public access to the lake, so residents must be a part of one of the five HOA’s.

Lake Recreation

Residents of Duck Lake can enjoy motorized and non-motorized boating on Duck Lake. Boaters need to watch out for shallow areas along the shoreline.

Fishing, swimming, and other water sports can also be enjoyed on the lake.

Duck Lake has incredible habitats for birds to nest throughout the year. Residents can observe a mix of waterfowl and other species.

Smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, muskellunge and hybrids, catfish, northern pike, trout, and more can be caught on Duck Lake. Anglers can toss a line in while enjoying the lovely landscapes.

Visit the Chain O’Lakes

One of the more popular attractions near Duck Lake is the highly trafficked Chain O’Lakes waterway system. The Chain O’Lakes system consists of fifteen lakes that all sit in Lake County, along with Duck Lake. The Chain is reported to be the busiest inland recreational waterway per acre in the United States.

Water sports are trendy on Fox Lake. So, bring a boat if you can.
