Lake Cataouatche is located 30 minutes south of New Orleans and is connected to Lake Salvador.

The closest major airport is Louis Armstrong New Orleans International, a short 32-minute drive from the lake. Urgent care can be found at River Oaks Hospital about 20 minutes away.

Stock up on snacks and groceries at Comeaux Grocery 13 minutes away, or try one of the local-recommended restaurants such as Lebrane’s Creole Cuisine and Catering, Kim Anh’s Noodle House, Charles Seafood, and Hickory Cafe & Grill.

Be sure to go on a tour such as the highly recommended Cajun Pride Swamp Tour, Airboat Tour by Arthur Matherne, or the French Quarter Phantom Tours.

Closer to Baton Rouge, you’ll find Mike the Tiger’s Habitat. Mike the Tiger is LSU’s mascot and those coming to his habitat will get an up-close view of him and see just how well he is cared for.

History buffs in the area should explore the USS Kidd, LSU Rural Life Museum, or the Capitol Park Museum.
