Lake Michigan - Escanaba Area

Location

Located in the upper peninsula of Michigan with great views of Lake Michigan, Escanaba offers beaches to relax, lighthouses, waterfalls, outdoor recreation, shops, and restaurants to explore. It is home to the most freshwater shoreline in Delta County.

Medical care and emergencies can be found 1.7 miles off to the left of Ludington Street west from the center of town at OSF St. Francis Hospital or at Marquette General Hospital Clinic which is off of S Lincoln Road.

Delta County Airport is south of downtown Escanaba featuring regional flights with the closest international airport being located about 52 miles north of the city for any traveling needs.

Outdoor Recreation

Best known for its freshwater fishing locations, this beautiful area features great areas to find more than 20,000 fish to catch such as pike, yellow perch, bass, trout, and more. Fishermen and boaters can go out to either the Ludington Park Boat Launch or the North Shore Boat Launch to cruise around and find a great catch in Lake Michigan. Fishing regulations require a fishing license for all people 17+ excluding people with mental impairments and residents of a home of appropriate age accompanied by one or more adults who have a permit issued by the DNR.

Ludington park features a mile-long park along Lake Michigan filled with attractions for visitors and residents including a fitness circuit, tennis courts, sand volleyball court, picnic pavilion, and more. It offers a natural harbor of the Escanaba Marina for boaters including dock attendants, bike rentals, boat launches, and more. The park is pet-friendly and eco-friendly open all year round revealing magnificent views of Lake Michigan along the shoreline.

Enjoy Escanaba Beach with lighthouses and parks nearby for a fun swimming day or to lay out and relax. Lifeguards are on duty for protection and any emergencies that may happen.

The Upper Peninsula State Fair near the center of town is held annually in August as Michigan’s only State Fair. The fair provides many fun activities for all ages while promoting its three main objectives: Agriculture Promotion, Economic Development, and Education and Heritage.
