The Park is a remote island near Michigan's border. The park can only be accessed by either boat or plane, but it is well worth the voyage. Along with the beauty and wildlife that this island has to offer, it is filled with hiking trails, boating and scuba opportunities.
One of the most exciting things to explore is the abandoned shipwrecks just under the surface of the water right outside the island. Visitors can scuba dive these areas to find these sunken ships along with artifacts.
Along the Northern Michigan line on Lake superior, there are several small cities with large character.
Marquett is a small town where you can find the Northern Michigan University. In this town residence have many dining and shopping opportunities, as well as a few historic landmarks to visit such as the Father Jaques Marquette Statue.
Another known town is Grand Marais, where its shore is made up of sandy beaches and the west bay.
